The article discusses the altar hierarchy depending on its location in the temple and accessories parish or monastery church. Include reasons influenced the choice and use of a scheme of arrangement altars. Depending on the time period varied shaping principles of building of the main altar. Identify the main methods of forming the space and equipment of the main altar in the presbiterium of the temple, as well as the location of chapel and side altars.
