Abstract
In modern industry, flexible production systems and CNC machines are actively introduced into production. In the processing on CNC machines used prefabricated tools (lathe cutters and mills) with mechanical fastening of the cutting inserts. In the case of precast incisors, one of the main parameters is the tool durability. This parameter is very important for the tool, as a high durability significantly reduces the auxiliary time. With low durability of the insert, it is necessary to replace the inserts frequently due to the fact that the worn tool is not able to provide the necessary parameters of roughness, dimensional accuracy and shape. In the finishing on a CNC lathe, were used a cutter with a replaceable carbide insert produced by lamina Technologies VBMT 110304 NN LT 10, which was then replaced by a insert of the Seno brand VNMG 160408. As a result, the lamina plate made it possible to obtain from 180 to 350 usable parts, obtaining a roughness parameter Ra 1,6-3,2. The "Seno" plate made it possible to obtain from 80 to 200 parts without replacing the plate, but the roughness parameter obtained by this tool was at the level of Ra 0.8-1.6. As a conclusion, it can be noted that the durability parameter, despite its importance, can be both extremely relevant in the case of large-scale production, and less relevant if this parameter can be sacrificed for the sake of better surface characteristics or, if it is economically justified, the cheapness of a less durable tool.
