Abstract
The pathways of vibrational energy of an excited molecule are investigated through consideration of time derivatives of different energy constituents: vibrational, rotational and the Coriolis coupling energies. It is shown that intermode energy exchange between two particular vibrational modes can proceed through direct nonlinear intermode interactions as well as due to the Coriolis coupling. Vibration to rotation energy exchange is elucidated, too. The expressions for the intensities ofintra- and intermolecular energy exchange channels are derived.
