Abstract
Free localized vibrations of thin long non-homogeneous cylindrical shell under initial stress are studied. The Fliigge type basic equations for a shell, including the effect of initial tensions due to axial compressive force and internal or external pressure, are employed, and by using the asymptotic method the solutions of the basic equations are constructed in the form of functions decreasing quickly far from some parallel on the shell surface.
