This paper presents computer simulation of crack development in time. It was carried out using finite element package basing on the model of the deformed solid with a dangerous volume. The effectiveness of this method of modeling the damage is shown by the fact that crack spreads in the longitudinal direction, and maximum values of stress intensity are at the top of the crack.
