A short survey on the localized forms of motion of thin shells having variable geometrical and physical parameters is presented. Three kinds of the two-dimensional problems dealing with free vibrations, parametric vibrations and wave propagation are considered. The asymptotic methods for studying stationary and non-stationary localized vibrations of thin elastic, viscoelastic, and composite laminated shells are discussed.
