Abstract
The purpose of this project is to design and construct a 12 V DC to 220 V AC inverter using components such as the TL494 PWM IC, MOSFET and a center tap transformer. The TL494 will serve as the oscillator responsible for generating a 50 Hz alternating electromagnetic field. The TL494 will be configured to produce a wave output at the desired frequency of 50Hz. This wave will be fed into the gate of the MOSFET, which acts as a power switch, converting the low-voltage DC input into a high-voltage AC output. The center tap transformer is crucial for stepping up the voltage from 12 V DC to 220 V AC. It will transform the low-voltage, high-current input from the MOSFET into a high-voltage, low-current output suitable for powering AC devices. Additional components such as capacitors, resistors, and variable resistors will be utilized to fine-tune the performance of the circuit, ensuring stable operation and efficient power conversion. A 4 W bulb will be connected as a load to the inverter for testing purposes. A digital multimeter will be employed to measure the output voltage at the terminals of the transformer, verifying that the inverter is capable of delivering the desired 230 V AC output.
