This paper presents an analysis of the evolution of coronary stents – from bare-metal structures to modern drug-eluting models – and classifies the polymer matrices and combinations of biocompatible materials used. The aim of the study was to select a gradient coating composition for coronary stents, taking into account the availability of components that ensure controlled and uniform release of the pharmacologically active substance while maintaining the mechanical integrity of the structure.
