Abstract
Buildings are the largest consumers of energy and producers of greenhouse gases in both developed and developing countries. According to incomplete statistics in Russia, Belarus and China, energy consumption in buildings alone accounts for 50 % of CO2 emissions. Therefore, there is an urgent need for changes in various areas of the building industry: energy efficiency, emission control, production and application of materials, utilization of renewable resources, recycling and reuse of building materials. In addition, due to growing environmental concerns, the development of new environmentally friendly building materials with plant fibers and methods for their application in practice is of utmost importance.
