Abstract
A new specialized lecture course for MS students of technical universities, which are majoring in Materials Science, is developed using up-to-date multimedia means. The subject matter of this course includes the mechanisms of phase and structure formation during synthesis and processing of modern materials and the mechanisms through which the material structure determines it mechanical properties, e. g., deformation, strengthening and fracture. This course includes both lectures and seminars. The latter are held in the form of scientific discussion, where the students acquire the skills of applying the knowledge on the structure formation mechanisms to solving the problems that arise during their research for the fulfillment of MS dissertation.
