Abstract
В чем заключается профессия архитектора? Чем подготовка архитектора отличается от подготовки инженера-строителя, художника, графического дизайнера? Что такое архитектурное проектирование и какие объекты должен уметь проектировать архитектор? С каких позиций стоит рассматривать работы зодчих прошлого и чему нужно учить «главных строителей»? В статье рассмотрены базовые понятия, используемые архитекторами для обозначения своей профессиональной деятельности.

What is the profession of an architect? How does the training of an architect differ from the training of a civil engineer, artist, graphic designer? What is architectural design and what objects should an architect be able to design? From what positions should we consider the works of architects of the past and what should be taught to the "main builders"? The article discusses the basic concepts used by architects to designate their professional activities.
