Abstract
В статье рассмотрено понятие «дух места», его трактовки в работах исследователей и в международном законодательстве. Поставлена проблема утери «духа места» в современном развивающемся мире, а также выделены преимущества адаптации объектов архитектурного наследия, как способ сохранения «духа места».

The article considers the concept of "the spirit of location", its interpretation in the studies of researchers and in international legislation. The problem of the loss of the "the spirit of location" in the modern developing world is stated, and the advantages of adapting architectural heritage objects as a way to preserve the "spirit of place" are highlighted.
