Recycled concrete obtained from the demolition of buildings and pavements. Recycled concrete consists of two-phase particles that contain both the original natural aggregate and the residual mortar. Residual mortar is consisting of the original cement paste and the original fine natural aggregate. The use of recycled concrete is still limited by a concern over the durability of concrete made with the material. This is mainly due to the cracking susceptibility of concrete made with recycled materials, particularly as a result of drying shrinkage. Using recycled concrete as a replacement for coarse natural aggregate in concrete, an increase in drying shrinkage is observed. However, the higher levels of shrinkage did not necessarily correspond to higher stress levels nor higher cracking susceptibility. The reduced cracking susceptibility of concrete connected with the lower modulus of elasticity of the concrete. The lower modulus of elasticity was attributed to the larger volume of mortar that existed in these mixtures. Properties of concrete containing recycled concrete, due to the availability residual mortar can increase the crack resistance of concretes with shrinkage during drying. The aim of the study is to test this hypothesis.ru
