The paper analyzed the protectionist policies used in the Republic of Belarus, and its effectiveness. We studied the main problems of import substitution policy in the Republic of Belarus. The directions to enhance the protection of the domestic market from foreign competition in the Republic of Belarus.

This paper outlines the problem of import substitution and analyzes the import content of the foreign trade of the Republic of Belarus. Import substitution is a part of the economic policy of the country. The solution to this problem is very important and necessary to improve the economic efficiency of enterprises.
