Abstract
The article discusses the reasons and the process of reforming the customs legislation of the European Union. In particular, the Customs Code of the Union is considered, the adoption of which led to a number of conceptual changes in the European Union customs legislation. The European Union's basic customs legislation is contained in the Customs Code and the Code's implementing provisions. With the adoption of the Code, The EU has simplified and harmonised international trade procedures to make it easier for EU business to import and export.
