Abstract
Газовые двигатели, как и двигатели внутреннего сгорания в целом, не сразу стали такими, какими мы привыкли их сейчас видеть. Развивались они несколько веков, на протяжении которых множество ученых и инженеров сделали свой вклад в их улучшение. В статье рассмотрены основные даты и этапы развития газового двигателя.

Gas engines, as well as internal combustion engines in General, did not immediately become what we are used to seeing them now. They developed over several centuries, during which many scientists and engineers have contributed to their improvement. In the article the main dates and stages of development of the gas engine were considered.
